Development Details – Carousel Towns at Thornhill Walk
Carousel Towns is the first phase of at Thornhill Walk – a thoughtfully planned mixed-use residential community at 9810 Bathurst Street in Vaughan. This initial phase focuses on a collection of 68 townhome units designed to deliver a range of modern family-oriented housing options in a walkable, landscaped neighbourhood setting. According to development applications submitted to the City of Vaughan, the townhomes will be arranged in eight separate blocks, with a combination of back-to-back and standard townhomes spread across the site to provide architectural variety and strong streetscape presence. The blocks range in size from 5 to 12 units, allowing for more intimate residential clusters and improved pedestrian permeability.
The development application shows that the back-to-back townhomes are three-storey homes located in Blocks A through F. These offer efficient floorplans tailored to urban living while maximizing density. Blocks G and H introduce standard townhomes, also three storeys tall, but designed with rear yards to appeal to families seeking more traditional layouts. Most blocks are organised along internal private roads with landscaped buffers, pedestrian walkways, and visitor parking incorporated into the site plan. A total of 15 visitor parking places (including two designated car share spots) are distributed throughout the townhome areas, ensuring convenience for residents and guests alike.
Outdoor amenity space is a key feature of this phase. Two landscaped communal open spaces – one measuring 1,338 m² and the other 1,241 m² – are planned as gathering areas, offering passive recreation and green relief within the community. Dedicated short-term bicycle parking is available near several blocks, promoting alternative modes of transport and aligning with sustainable planning objectives. Additionally, townhome parking spaces are labelled “EV Ready,” anticipating future demand for electric vehicles.
Overall, Carousel Towns at Thornhill Walk reflects a transitional, human-scaled residential offering within a popular and growing urban corridor. It balances density with livability and provides a strong foundation for the larger, mixed-form community that will follow.
